Lo scopo che il Catas si
è prefisso dal lontano 1969 è stato quello di favorire
lo sviluppo tecnologico delle imprese italiane del legno, del
mobile, dell'arredamento e dei settori ad esso collegati per diventare
il punto di riferimento tecnologico per la crescita e lo sviluppo
delle aziende del settore e concorrere al miglioramento della
qualità dei prodotti dei nostri clienti, offrendo soluzioni
innovative, con reciproca soddisfazione.
Con le sue due sedi operative in Friuli ed in Lombardia, il Catas
è attualmente il maggior istituto italiano di ricerca-sviluppo
e laboratorio di prove per il settore legno-arredo.
Il Catas, grazie ad un organico competente, serve annualmente
oltre 1000 imprese dando consulenza, svolgendo corsi di aggiornamento,
eseguendo prove sui materiali, sui componenti e sui prodotti.
Di queste oltre i due terzi sono clienti abituali, avendo sottoscritto
l'abbonamento sostenitore all'istituto.
A suffragare la professionalità dell'istituto è
stato conseguito l'accreditamento, fin dal 1991, da parte del
Sinal per oltre cento prove.
Il Catas coopera con organizzazioni ed istituti italiani e stranieri
per le attività di ricerca e di certificazione di prodotto;
fa parte di Eurifi, associazione tra i principali istituti europei
di ricerca nel settore legno-arredo.
Fin dalla sua fondazione, il Catas è sempre stato un soggetto
attivo nei lavori di normazione, inoltre Catas è punto
Uni e punto Cei, quindi dà la possibilità alle aziende
di consultare ed acquistare tutte le norme nazionali ed europee.

Ever since Catas was founded back in 1969, our goal has always
been to encourage and support the technological development of
Italian companies operating in the wood, furniture and furnishing
sector. And with our two operational centres in the regions of
Friuli Venezia-Giulia and Lombardy, Catas is the biggest Italian
testing and research association in the wood and furniture field.
Each year 800 different companies take advantage of the consultancy
services we offer, the training courses we organize and the tests
on materials, components and finished products which we carry
out. Of these firms about half are regular clients who have become
associate members of Catas, and in so doing have become part of
an important network of technical expertise.
We work hand in hand with designers and producers in the creation
of prototypes, in fine-tuning products, and in testing the finished
article. Our Research & Development activities, training courses
and seminars are also aimed at providing professional back-up
to companies in their drive towards technical improvement. All
our tests are carried out by expert test engineers using the latest
equipment in line with national standards (Uni, Din, Bis, Nf,
Astm, Ansi, etc.) and international standards (Iso, En).
One of the most important features of Catas is our ability to
prepare tailor-made testing procedures and equipment in cases
which are not covered by existing standards. A further company
objective and natural consequence of the tests we perform is to
deal with problems that may emerge from test results and, in co-operation
with the client to search out appropriate technical solutions.
