Based in Holland, Michigan, USA, Haworth is a privately held corporation founded by G.W. Haworth in 1948. Over the past 25 years, Haworth has evolved to a global enterprise with product lines that include moveable walls, access flooring, modular systems furniture, desking systems, seating, executive casegoods, storage, tables, and electrical and cabling support systems. Haworth operates in more than a 120 countries with product development and manufacturing sites in China, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, India, Canada and the United States. This allows us to serve our international customers close to where they operate, reduce shipping distances and fuel use, and participate in the local communities. Haworth also owns and operates Groupe Lacasse, based in St. Pie, Quebec, Canada. Founded in 1956, Groupe Lacasse offers quality, design and value in workplace systems, laminate office furniture, steel storage and filing, seating and education products.
Haworth has developed a unique European strategy that embraces the specific knowledge and manufacturing capabilities of four sub brands: art.collection, castelli, comforto, dyes. Each is known for its design heritage and product innovation, and within this strategy is focusing on building a comprehensive and integrated portfolio. They have a combined material and finishes programme, presenting an enviable collection of solutions for all types of work styles and organisational models.
In Italy in 1993 Castelli joined the company Haworth. Castelli, founded in 1877 as a craft workshop and renowned in the market for its capacity to grow and anticipate trends, thanks to the precious contribution of prestigious designers such as Emilio Ambasz, Claudio Bellini, Rodolfo Bonetto, Nilo Gioacchini, Giancarlo Piretti, Charles Pollock, F.A. Porsche and Richard Sapper. Over the years, Castelli has received recognition from important Italian and international design associations; the Italian Association of Industrial Designers (ADI) awarded Castelli its Compasso d’oro for three times. The PLIA chair, designed by Giancarlo Piretti, can be admired at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York.
Within the Haworth Group, Castelli and Haworth Italy have the important role of developing furnishings and partitions for the European market, leveraging Italian culture of experimentation and design. As well as design culture and attention to design, Castelli also contributes quality product processing in its Italian factories. Our plant in S.Giovanni in Persiceto (Bologna), one of the most advanced in the office furniture sector, received the environmental certification UNI EN ISO 14001: 2004 from TÜV Italia S.r.l., as well as the prestigious ANVER award for the ecological care of its manufacturing processes. Haworth Italy has obtained ISO 9001 certification for quality as well as OHSAS certification 18001 for health and safety.
